One Paragraph Movie Review: Adam’s Rib

Sixth film: Adam’s Rib, a ‘battle of the sexes’ film from 1949, when it was still fine to call anything a ‘battle of the sexes’. God, you can just be dragged around by Katherine Hepburn’s drawl and cheekbones all day — even through an awkward mix of light-hearted cocktail hour domestic romp and courtroom drama. Some of the feministic points made — that men and women should be tried equally — are still pertinent. Others — like the fact that some women can physically lift men over their heads — less so. Three fancy bonnets out of five.
