One Paragraph Movie Review: Clueless
Eighty-fifth film: Clueless. Some people may question the inclusion of an Alicia Silverstone movie in a most-important-movies-of-all-time book, but those people Do. Not. Understand. We all know that the storyline is based loosely on Jane Austen’s Emma, but let’s not even pretend that the storyline is the point here. There are OUTFITS. There is a MAKE OVER. There are CONTEMPORARY COLLOQUIALISMS. PAUL RUDD is in it. This is a film that is just an extreme pleasure to watch every single time, and for that opinion I shall not be brutally rebuffed, not even sporadically. My favourite bit about Brittany Murphy is that when Tai accused Cher of being just a virgin who couldn’t drive, Brittany herself was a virgin who couldn’t drive. With the only drawback being Justin-Walker-as-Christian’s scene-stealingly terrible acting: four point nine yellow plaid twin sets out of five.
