Ninety-fifth film: Dead Man, a Jim Jarmusch film that we should probably hold partly responsible for Johnny Depp’s descent into his current real-life character: Worst Smelling Guy At A Swinger’s Party. A dull, black-and-white-for-no-good-reason film with sparsely scattered highlights and a deceptively excellent cast, both of which include Iggy Pop in a lady’s bonnet and skirt serving beans to Billy Bob Thornton. This is a slow film trying to be a cult classic, no doubt disappointed that nobody dressed up as its strenuously contrived characters at university Halloween parties. If this film was as short and interesting as it is up its own arse, it might be onto something. But nah. One freshly squashed fireplace skull out of five.
