One Paragraph Movie Review: Diner
One hundred and fourth film: Diner. Look, maybe I just wasn’t in the mood for a Cool Guys Movie on International Women’s Day, but despite the hardly-even-looks-like-acting acting, the unbelievably great cast and definitely excellent soundtrack, I think I’ve already hit my quota of character-driven mid-century-nostalgic coming-of-age films primarily set around bloke chat and smoking and not much else. I mean, those sorts of films are absolutely fantastic, but after eight or so they do get a bit great-but-all-quite-similar, like Grain Waves flavours. Paul Reiser’s good at jokes though, hey. A decent way to spend a couple of hours, but I don’t feel any different. Three and a quarter popcorn box penises out of five.
