Two hundred and thirty-third film: Hold Me While I’m Naked, a short 1966 art film by George Kuchar that is full of contrasts. The contrast between the racy, intellectual world a filmmaker wishes to create and the drab existence of his real life. The contrast between the artistic manifestos of cinematic creators and their underlying need to just look at boobs all day. And most notably, the contrast between this short film and the kind of short films I find enjoyable or meaningful. I spent five minutes afterwards looking up Kuchar’s history of making brief, camp films, which means I spent a total of 20 minutes visiting a genre that is just as pleased to not have me as its target audience as I am. One shower tit-sarong out of five.
