One Paragraph Movie Review: The Big Chill
Thirty-ninth film: The Big Chill, 1983’s homage to friendship, fluffy hair, 60s bangers and slacks. People who don’t like The Big Chill are wrong, partly because even if you hate a lot of it, it has Jeff Goldblum and free sneakers in it. Kevin Costner very briefly and invisibly plays Dead Alex, Meg Tilly is impossibly flexible, William Hurt tapes a brick of cocaine to the chassis of his car, Tom Berenger has sex with the mom from Poltergeist, and Glenn Close lets her husband put his little Kevin Kline in her jumper-wearing best friend, which you’d think would be weird and is. Spoiler alert: Jeremiah is, in fact, a bullfrog. Four and three-quarter put-a-baby-in-me Christmas jumpers out of five.
