One Paragraph Movie Review: The Dark Knight
Ninety-second film: The Dark Knight. On the down side, two things: superhero movies and I are not friends, and every time Christian Bale did the earnest and gravelly Batman voice I burst out laughing. On the plus side, this is a very good movie, with an incredible cast and a tight lid on what could have been ridiculous melodrama. Heath Ledger’s colourful darkness, Gotham’s actual darkness and the very large and plot-driving questions about morality and ethics make this one of those films you can still feel in the back of your brain the following day, but the thing that will really stay with me is the sense of wonder that Batman’s cape never got caught in the back wheel of his motorcycle. Three sewn-into-a-fat-man’s-tummy mobile phones out of five.
